What is TRE?

What is TRE and what can it help with?

TRE stands for Tension & Trauma Release Exercises and is a practice created by David Berceli. TRE is a set of exercises designed to help release deep patterns of stress, tension & trauma held in the body. The exercises put some fatigue on the muscles and are a bit like some yoga exercises. This in turn activates a very natural shaking/vibrating in the body which helps to calm down the nervous system and release tension.

Once learned in a safe and supervised environment TRE is a practice that can be used regularly at home or in situations where it is needed.

Modern life can be very stressful. Even before we had the global lockdown in 2020 many of us were dealing with day-to-day stresses at work, in relationships, or the daily juggle of trying to support ourselves and our families. There are also those of us who have experienced traumatic events, recent or in our past, that continue to affect us and our wellbeing.

Everyone can benefit from TRE as shaking is a natural mechanism for humans that helps deeply relax the body and support us to be more resilient. Specifically TRE can help with tension, stress, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, panic attacks, musculoskeletal problems and much more.
